When Restrictions Apply

The news and weekend restriction windows, and which events are covered.

Updated October 8, 2026

When do news restrictions apply?

Restrictions begin 15 minutes before a designated news announcement and are lifted 2 minutes after its scheduled release time.

For example, if an announcement is scheduled for 1:30 p.m., the restriction window will run from 1:15 p.m. to 1:32 p.m. in the same time zone.

Which news events are affected?

The initial controls apply to selected high-impact US economic news events, sometimes described as “red-folder” events.

TX3 Markets will email clients a schedule of designated events for the coming week before those events occur. Any subsequent schedule changes will also be communicated by email.

When do weekend restrictions apply?

Restrictions begin 1 hour before the applicable Friday market close and are lifted 15 minutes after the applicable Monday market opening.

Please refer to the trading session times and time zone communicated by TX3 Markets, as market opening and closing times can differ by instrument.
